Main Street Trick or Treat Costume Parade Oct. 30

Thursday, October 21, 2010

This year's Trick-or-Treat Parade will be held on Sat. Oct. 30. File Photo
The Cherokee Chamber's Trick or Treat Costume Parade down Main Street is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30.

The parade will begin at the Cherokee Fire Station at 1 p.m. Parents can register their kids at the Cherokee Fire Station between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.

Last year Cherokee had beautiful weather and the Chamber had over 250 children in the parade. Businesses along Main Street that wish to participate simply need to be outside of their business around 1 p.m. when the kids come down Main Street.

Businesses not along Main Street are still welcome to participate. The VFW Auxiliary will be packing goodie bags to distribute to the children at the end of the parade. If you would like to contribute candy, coupons, or other prizes to include in these goodie bags, please get them to the Chamber of Commerce by Thursday, Oct. 28.

The parade route will take participants west from the Fire Station onto 4th Street, to Main, west to 5th Street, across the street and then west on Main to Curves/Electric Beach, then east on Main to 1st Street, across the street and west on Main to 4th street, then south on 4th and bead back to the Fire Station to hand out goodie bags.

The Chamber hopes everyone has fun with this and encourages employees to wear a costume, and use this as a time for good public relations.

The Chamber is in need of volunteers to help with this year's event. Also needed are people to help kids get signed up at the Fire Station so we have an accurate count. Plus, volunteers are needed to help watch traffic when the children are crossing the streets.

If you or someone you know is available to help with this, please contact the Chamber at 225-6414.

Regular Trick or Treating in Cherokee will be on Halloween, Oct. 31.
