The Sioux Central Rebel girls took first place in the girls' section of the meet, totaling 45 points to runner-up Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn's 73. George/Little Rock/Central Lyon finished 3rd with 90 points, Hinton was 4th with 99 points and Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen Union finished in 5th place, scoring 152 points.
GLR-CL's Jersah Fiedler was the individual winner, covering the 4k course in a time of 15:33, while HMS' Brenna Sweeney finished second in 15:38. Kaitlyn Aberson of South O'Brien finished fifth, in a time of 15:58.
Anna Wilcox topped the MMC/RU runners with a time of 17:30, good for 17th place, and Sami Tentinger was 23rd, with a time of 18:49. Monica De a Cruz was 28th in 19:16, Brianna Wilberding 37th in 19:29, Kelsey Brady 47th in 21:05, Jeri Welp 49th in 21:18, and Christina Wilkens was 50th in 21:41.
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn's Ben Berberich was the individual champ, as he traversed the 5k course in a time of 17:09. Adam Sohl of GLR/CL was second, in 17:18. Luke Hoger of South O'Brien finished 29th in a time of 19:46, and MMC/RU's Dereck Reuter was 26th in 19:14. His MMC/RU teammates Zach Kellogg (21:04), Ben Brady (21:26), Jacob Pearson (23:09) and Mitch Brady (23:24) finished 37th, 39th, 41st, and 43rd, respectively.
MMC/RU won the girls' JV meet with 39 points. Alissa McDermott was fifth in 20:52, Sara Peters seventh in 22:36, Mallory Roseen eighth in 22:58, Jill Addison ninth in 23:07, and Casey Wurth 10th in 23:59.
Rebecca Thiel of South O'Brien finished second in the JV race, completing the 4k course in 19:32.
Neither South O'Brien or MMC/RU had boys teams competing in the Junior Varsity division.
"We'll take our top seven girls and top seven boys to Districts at Orange City Thursday (today) in a very strong field of 2A teams," said MMC/RU coach Ric Collins.
