Lucille M. Kullman, age 92, of Storm Lake, passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at the Buena Vista Manor Care Center of Storm Lake. A funeral service was held today at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Alta. Burial will be at the Scandinavian Cemetery of Alta.
A visitation was held on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta is in charge of the arrangements.
Lucille Kullman was born on Aug. 24, 1918 and died at the age of 92 years, one month, 24 days. She was born as Lucille Margaret Mahn to proud parents Henry and Hulda Mahn. She joined a loving family with three brothers, Paul, Leroy and Anthony, and three sisters, Gladys, Ethelyn and Lillian. Her early years were spent on a farm between Alta and Aurelia. After schooling, Lucille owned a beauty shop in Cherokee where she made many acquaintances and friends.
As the years passed, Lucille met and married her husband of 39 years, Russell Kullman. Her married life took her to Denver and the west coast and ultimately to her home in Dallas, Texas. She and her husband Russ enjoyed many hours of square dancing as they belonged to several square dance clubs. After a lifetime in the fundraising business, Lucille then divorced and moved back to the area of her roots.
After a few years of working at Buena Vista Manor, Lucille found retirement and was able to enjoy the fellowship of family and many friends. Lucille was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Alta.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; three sisters; and her ex-husband.
She leaves to mourn her passing, nephews, Keith (Marilyn) Mahn of Chandler, Ariz., Jerry (Sandra) Mahn of Minneapolis, Minn., Rodney (Linda) Mahn of Creston, Chad and Pamela Mahn of Hot Springs, Ariz., Mike (Diane) Mahn of Auburn, Don (Marilyn) Carlson of Rochester, Minn., Roland Carlson of Dallas, Texas, John Carlson of Fonda, Eugene (Sharon) Peterson of Des Moines; nieces, Joan Mahn of Des Moins, Gyle (James) Klinker of Estelline, S.D., Debra (Kevin) Jesse of Storm Lake, Elizabeth (Martin) Wernimont of Des Moines, Myrtle Ramert of Fulda, Minn.; sister in law, Marjorie Mahn; and special friend Darla Weiland.
