A second benefit for Kelsie Peterson, a 2009 Cherokee Washington High graduate who was recently diagnosed with cancer, will be held on Nov. 21 at the Alta Community Center.

This is a benefit to raise monies, with proceeds going to help Peterson to defray her mounting medical costs and travel expenses. The benefit will host a meal and bake sale along with a silent auction to be held throughout the day. Meal will include pork burgers, baked beans, salads, chips and desert.

Kelsie has begun rigorous chemotherapy treatment earlier this year in Omaha and Storm Lake and will continue until June of 2011. She participated in many sports at WHS, and was enrolled at Dakota State University, where she is a member of the DSU softball team. Because of her illness, she was unable to return to college this upcoming year.

Kelsie is the daughter of Terry and Roxanne Peterson of Alta. Monetary donations can be made to Heritage Bank, Alta in Kelsie's name. If you wish to donate food, auction items or other items for the benefit, please contact on of the benefit organizer: Kathy Obannon -- 712-760-3955, Missy Marple -- 712-730-0323, Cindy Glienke 712-229-6714, or Melissa Fahr -- 712-229-1753 or email mfahr@glidden-ralston.k12.ia.us.
