After many years, the Multiple Listing Realtors are passing the torch to the Sanford Museum to organize the very popular "Festival of Trees" display in the West Gallery of the Museum.

Sanford Museum Director Linda Burkhart stated, "We would like to invite all Chamber businesses and organizations to decorate a tree for the month-long exhibit. This is a beautiful display that attracts many visitors during the month of December and we are, of course, inviting Santa to be here on Thursday nights, Saturday afternoons, and some Sunday afternoons as well."

Burkhart continued, "If you decided to decorate a tree, and we hope all of you do, here are a few things to think about. Trees can be decorated from Nov. 29 until Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also on Dec. 2 the Museum will be open until 7 p.m. so you can come in and decorate after work if you can't get in during the day. The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, Dec. 4 at noon."

Burkhart suggest the following guidelines for any participants for the "Festival of Trees." The trees should be artificial, otherwise they get really dry.

If you have had trees here is the past, try to come up with new decorations this year so the display is different each year.

Your tree needs to be labeled with your business or organization name, you can make the sign or if you let the Museum know what name you want on your tree so the staff could make it, but it will need a label.

If you decide to have a tree, and the Museum hopes to have a record number this year, please call the Museum and let them know (225-3922). Also, if you have questions, concerns or schedule problems, let the staff know and they do their best to work with you.

Your tree will need to be picked up on December 29, 20, or 31.

The Museum staff is looking forward to a great exhibit.
