MMC tumbles at Woodbury Central

MOVILLE - Playoff-bound Woodbury Central (5-4) rapped Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn 48-6 in Class A District football action here Friday to end the Eagles' 3-6 season.

Neal Bunt caught four passes for 96 yards and one touchdown to account for MMC's points. He was on the receiving end of quarterback Tanner Utesch's pass. Utesch completed 11-27 passes in the game for 158 yards, with the Eagle offense stymied throughout by four interceptions.

MMC managed just 42 yards rushing in the game on 30 carries, with Bunt rushing four times for 19 yards, and Utesch carrying the ball 21 times for 18 total yards.

Andrew Hoefling caught four passes for 48 yards for MMC, and Zach Specht caught two for 29 yards.

Bunt led the Eagles all the way around, also totaling eight tackles to top the defense, followed by Tyler Prunty and Levi Letsche with three stops apiece.

No game statistics were made available for Woodbury Central, which hosts 6-3 Britt West Hancock tonight in first-round State Play-offs.
