Hawks earn 8-player State Playoff berth

REMSEN - Remsen St. Mary's blistered River Valley 48-13 in an 8-player District football game that ended the regular season for both teams.

The visiting Wolverines scored a touchdown rushing and passing, with Dylan Fluke accounting for both TDs. Fluke rushed three times for five yards and one TD, and caught four passes for 73 yards and a TD to lead the Wolverines. He also picked off a pass for River Valley.

RV quarterback Brody Riedemann completed 10-21 passes for 132 yards, one TD, and had three picked off by the alert Hawk defense. RV could only muster 21 yards on 21 carries, with Brody Riedemann leading the way with 11 hauls for 15 yards. Brennan Riedemann caught six passes for 59 yards.

The winning RSM Hawks rushed 42 times for 216 yards and six TDs in the game, with Zane Phillips totaling 101 yards on 17 carries and four TDs. Cody Colling rushed six times for 37 yards and a TD, and Garret Schroeder rushed five times for 20 yards and one TD.

The Hawks' quarterback Colling completed 5-9 passes for 62 yards, one TD, and one interception. Billy Steichen caught three passes for 33 yards and a TD.

Billy Pansegrau led RV on defense with 13 tackles, while Fluke tallied 11, Carl Simonsen nine, and Luke Wilen, Josh Kline, and Brody Riedemann seven apiece.

Steichen paced the Hawk defenders with a dozen tackles, and Beau Pick registered nine.

RSM (6-3) earned an 8-player State Playoff berth with the win and travels to 8-1 Graettinger-Terril tonight. River Valley ends its season with a 2-7 record.
