SCHALLER - The Ridge View Raptors swept a Class 2A Regional Quarterfinal volleyball match over Westwood of Sloan here on Tuesday, 25-21, 25-10, 25-13.
Ridge View was led on offense by Roxanne Grundmeier and Brooke Wiese. Both plauyers had 14 kills in the match, and Wiese had 13 digs, one more than Grundmeier. Gretchen Kistenmacher had 11 digs and Egypt Clayton dished out 38 assists to her teammates. Shannon Rohlk had three ace serves, and also had three blocks on the defensive side of things, while Grundmeier and Nicole Boyle each had two blocks.
Veteran Ridge View coach Scott Mitchell said his team passed the ball very well, "which allowed us to get into our offense." Mitchell also said that the Raptors' defense and blocking were better than they had been, which he felt frustrated the Westwood hitters.
In summing up the victory, the Raptors' 27th in 40 matches this season, Coach Mitchell stated, "We played a complete game and kept pressure n them throughout the whle match."
The Raptors advance to face Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto in a semifinal match in Mapleton at 7 p.m. on Friday. MVAO downed Logan-Magnolia 25-20, 25-27, 25-11, 26-24 in their quarterfinal match.
