CRMC Clinic in Holstein to offer babysitting class

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

HOLSTEIN-Cherokee Regional Clinic in Holstein will be offering a Basics of Babysitting class for girls and boys aged 10 to 16. This class will take place on Thursday, Nov. 11 from 5 p.m. -- 7:30 p.m. at the Holstein Clinic located at 112 North Kiel Street, Holstein. The class will be offered at no cost and participants will receive a complimentary copy of "The Ultimate Babysitter's Handbook" and a certificate of attendance. Light snacks will also be provided.

The purpose of the Basics of Babysitting class is to provide the participants with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or adult guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism, basic care, safety, and safe play.

This is no pre-requisite for this course beyond being at least 10 years of age on the day of the class. It will provide quality information regarding appropriate toys for the different developmental stages, how to pick up and hold an infant, how to feed an infant or toddler, how to change a diaper and recognizing when and whom to call in case of an emergency, among other things.

"This class is great training for youth and young teens who will be babysitting in the upcoming years. We encourage all young babysitters to attend the class. It will be fun and very informative," says course instructor Lisa Ducommun, ARNP- C.

To register, call (712) 368-4730 by Monday, Nov 8. Space is limited.
