The Cherokee American Legion and Auxiliary met on Oct. 21 for their monthly meetings.
They had two new members at their meeting from Mississippi. Larry Byrd and his wife are both able to join the Legion and Larry is still active and stationed in Mississippi.
They also celebrated Gene Browns 89th birthday at their Luncheon afterward. The group also discussed their speaker at their Soup Supper on Nov. 11. Their speaker, Stephen Bruggeman, will also be on the what's happening radio program on that date.
It's their Fifth Annual Supper and they are having Chili and Chicken noodle like they usually do. They also announced that they are trying bingo one more time and it is scheduled for the first Thursday in November which is Nov. 4. They will see how this works and decide from there.
Also they will be hosting the county meeting in December and that was discussed. They are still wanting to get the names of any service families left behind that they could be of some help too. Please if anyone knows of any please contact any Legion or Auxiliary member or call 225 3449. They are hoping that they can work some kind of Christmas program for any children.
They are working on plans for other community service projects that they can do. Their Secretary Andrea McIrvin is trying to work something out for them to work with the radio on a Program for the Serviceman or woman and their families. They are hoping this works out.
