Jerry Kastengren, age 59, a native of Aurelia, was taken to the Lord suddenly,on Nov. 16, 2010.
Visitation with the family will be held today from 5:30-7: p.m. at Northwest Chapel, 6700 Rings Road, Dublin, Ohio. A Home-Going and Celebration of Life for Jerry Kastengren will follow at Northwest Chapel at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Chapel or Beacon Elementary, Hilliard City Schools. Arrangements are being handled by Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich, Hilliard, Ohio.
At the time of his passing, Jerry worked for the Hilliard City Schools. Jerry was an active member of the Christian community where he served on various church boards. He also participated in the Greater Columbus Emmaus Community for many years, serving as their Community Lay Director for four years.
Jerry, a 1969 graduate of Aurelia High School, was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kastengren; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Archie and Martha Thompson; grandparents Joseph Sr. and Hulda Kastengren and Earl and Florence Zwick; and an infant nephew, Cecil Cranston.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; son Scott and daughter-in-law Olympia Kastengren and a precious grandson and "special buddy," Noah A.J. Kastengren, of Portland, Ore.; and a son, Gregg Kastengren of Columbus, Ohio. He also sadly leaves behind his mother, Isabel, of Cherokee; three sisters, Janice (Jim) Johnson of Des Moines; JoAnne (Jeff) Hirschman of Alta;and Jean (Dennis) Correll of Medford, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Cookie (Jerry) Cranston of Johnston; and a brother-in-law, Dennis (Kathryn) Thompson of Aledo, Texas. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many close and special friends, too numerous to name.
