Monday, November 29, 2010

Proceeds to go to Cherokee family

The Gausthaus Bar and Grille will be hosting a tip night for the Fred Springr family on Dec. 8 from 5 p.m. to close, Fred was seriously injured and debilitated in a traffic accident last spring and has been unable to work since that time.

Dan Lighter will be a guest bartender, and he will be donating all tips received. The servers will also be donating a portions of their tips.

There will also be donation jars along the bar. All proceeds will go directly to the Springer family.

A dedicated civic volunteer, Springer is well-known for initiating, organizing and working the special free breakfast served at the Depot in the wee hours to musicians and volunteers after the Cherokee Jazz & Blues Festival each January.

Dec. 8 is a special day at the Springer household as it will mark Fred and his wife Linda's 20th anniversary.

Organizers ask the public to join them in helping make the hard times for this family a little easier.

Money raised is to help them pay bills and stay in their home until the hoped-for time when Fred will be approved for Social Security Disability and have a reliable steady income.
