Cherokee American Legion and Auxiliary Treptow Post and Unit held their monthly meeting on Nov. 18 at the Legion Hall.
Discussed was what to do with the profits from their Annual Veterans Day soup supper. It was decided to make a donation to the American Red Cross as well as have a Christmas Party for the Active Servicemen and women's children.
It is going to be a bowling party, along with gifts for all. Pam Cox and Andrea McIrvin are in charge and if anyone has any questions, please contact them to add new names at 225-1112.
They are also decorating a tree fro the Gardens to be auctioned off and proceeds given to Hospice. It was also decided to decorate a tree for the Sanford Museum trees. Both their trees will be done patriotically.
They will be hosting the county meeting on Dec. 6 so arrangements were made for that. They will be having a special speaker from Moville speak on making rugs for our servicemen and women stationed overseas.
The Legion will not be having Bingo the first Thursday of December because of the Cherokee Christmas paraded. The will be holding bingo again in January on the first Thursday, which fall on Jan. 6.
The Auxiliary and Legion decided not the have a regular meeting in December and will meet again in January on the third Thursday of the month. Anyone interested coming as a guest is always welcomed. That meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Legion Hall at 515 W. Cedar.
