The Cherokee Communiy Theater is doing something different this winter. On Saturday, Jan. 22 and Sunday, Jan. 23, the CCT will be presenting a show designed specifically to be performed by young people, and it should be a great learning experience for everyone involved - those with previous experience in theater as well as newcomers to the stage.
The play in question is a musical, "Honk Jr.," the story of Ugly, the Ugly Duckling.
Singers, dancers, and chorus members, ages 6-18, are needed for the production, and tryouts will be this Saturday, from 1-2 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Community Theater Board will work with the groups.
Practice will start soon, with plans to work around cast members' busy school schedules. All young people are encouraged to give it a try this weekend.
