Hundreds of people lined up on Main Street in downtown Cherokee on Thursday to watch the annual Cherokee Chamber of Commerce's Wonderful World of Christmas Parade.
It seem that Mother Nature cooperated this year by keeping the temperature a comfortable 31 degrees as the 35 parade entries made their way down Main Street from the Cherokee County Courthouse to First Street.
Winners of this year's parade float contest were announced on Friday at the Cherokee Chamber Coffee. In the Business Category, Fredrichsen Brothers Construction of Cherokee took the coveted first place honors with their float that featured a miniature home decked out with classic Christmas lighting.
Second place winner in the Business Category was Northwest Realty, with their ever-popular dancing snowmen, and third place went to Valley Bank & Trust, which delighted the crowd with it giant papier-machÈ snowman.
In the Non-profit Category, the judges had their workscut out for them while trying to determine a winner. It is this reporter's opinion that all entry's in this category was outstanding this year.
But alas a winner needed to be named, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church took the top honor with it lighted Angel Merry-Go Round.
Cherokee Regional Medical Center landed the second place honor with their tribute to the classic Peanuts comic strip as its float featured a Snoopy and Woodstock in the doghouse.
Lastly, the Cherokee Villa and Rehab Center placed third with its entry of the colorful float of classic children's toys that came to life.
