Funeral services are being held today at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Carolyn Hollar will officiate. Visitation was on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Luella was born on March 10, 1929 at Meriden to Harlan and Thelma (Smith) Sexton. She was married to Dewitt "Bud" Sones on March 28, 1953 at Spencer. She was a resident of Cherokee, and before that, was a long - time resident of Quimby. She and her husband owned and operated the Tall Corn Inn in Quimby for several years, and retired in 1980. Luella enjoyed putting together puzzles and doing crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers - Wayne, Delbert and Edward Sexton; and two sisters, Marion Ruring and Harlene Roles.
She is survived by her husband Bud; two sons, Steve Sones and his wife Linda of Quimby and Gene Sones of Omaha, Neb.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Sones of Arlington, Texas and Shanna Sones of Beaumont, Texas; one sister, Judy Meikle, and her husband Lynn of Cherokee; also nieces and nephews.
