GOWRIE - The Alta-Aurelia Warriors girls trailed from the start, as they dropped a 63-41 non-conference basketball contest to Prairie Valley here on Tuesday.
Prairie Valley, whose team nickname is also the Warriors, led at all the quarter stops,16-10, 36-24, and 44-28, before posting their final 22 point win.
The Alta-Aurelia Warriors shot a frigid 16% from the field, including 0-7 from three-point land, in the disappointing loss. Jordan Henningsen led in scoring with 12 points, but eight of her points came from her nine free throw attempts. Meghan Glawe scored 11 for Alta-Aurelia, but she, too, had only two field goals and went 7-8 from the line.
Glawe and Emily Grieme led A-A in rebounding with nine boards each, while Courtney VanHaaften had eight and Henningsen six. Grieme and Henningsen also had three steals apiece for the Alta-Aurelia team, which is now 2-2.
Prairie Valley, a Twin Lakes Conference member, was led by Hannah Bindner's 25 points while her teammate Morgan Strutzenberg posted a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Alta-Aurelia will play Woodbury Central at Alta on Saturday.
