Dorothy A. Davidson, 92, of Cherokee, formerly of Madison, Wisconsin, and originally from Alta, passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 8, 2010 at Careage Hills in Cherokee.

Graveside services will be held at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Wisc.. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee is in charge of the local arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Arrangements in Wisconsin are being handled by the Gunderson Funeral Home in Madison.

Dorothy was born on Feb. 12, 1918 at Alta, Iowa to Carl and Ingrid (Melin) Anderson. She attended and graduated from Highview Consolidated High School in Iowa. She was married to Floyd J. Davidson on Aug. 2, 1939 and came to Madison in 1941, when her husband was appointed as a USDA Meat Inspector at the Oscar Mayer Plant. Dorothy worked 17 years at the Moseley's Gift Shop as a buyer, and then 22 years at the Notable Stevens House of Gifts.

She enjoyed reading, nature, all animals, crafts and loved her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Floyd on July 27, 1996, after almost 57 years of marriage; two sisters, Julia and Lila; and four brothers - Nels, Herbert, John and Forrest.

She is survived by two brothers, Wilbur Anderson of Lakewood, Wash. and Kenneth Anderson and his wife Joan of Cherokee; and many nieces and nephews.
