MARCUS - The Marcus Hometown Christmas will be held tonight from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Marcus.

Most of the stores will be open with special bargains to take advantage of. The Merchant Mall, which is basically a place for children to purchase neat gifts for family and friends at a reasonable price, will be open. All items will be in a range of $1 to $10, and is open to all ages. This year it will be located in the Community Center, along with all of the decorated Christmas trees.

The festival of trees features a roomful of trees decorated in many themes by organizations and churches. It is fun to walk around and see all the creative ideas. This year folks may vote for their favorite tree with dollars put in receptacles near the tree, the tree with the most money wins with the proceeds going to the local ministry food pantry.

Santa will be there for you to give your list to. The Marcus- Meriden-Cleghorn Junior Class is having a bake sale for prom. Those who don' t like to bake will find this a helpful sale to attend while helping others.

WesTel is providing sleigh rides downtown. To get on the sleigh, stop at the corner of City hall building. There is a large live Nativity scene located across from the fire station put on by the Grace Methodist Church.

The Marcus Fire Department chili feed is always a big hit as more than one variety is present to select from. There will also be bake sale there by Heartland Auxiliary.

Marcus Library has an after school program until 4:45 that night with a special guest. They will also be making a craft.
