Noel Leo Walsh of Alta, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake. Per his request, his body was cremated. A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Alta, with the Rev D. Duane Olson officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Alta, with Military Rites conducted by Alta VFW Post #6172. A visitation was held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Alta. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta is in charge of the arrangements.

Noel, the son of William and Myrtle (Johnson) Walsh was born September 15, 1928 in Granville, and he received his education in Marcus,Aurelia, and Alta. He served in the Navy during World War II, and married Bonnie Barr on November 22, 1947. To this union, five children were born.

Noel was employed by Hygrade Foods for several years, and upon closing of that plant, he opened and owned Walsh Welding in Alta. He was a life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. Noel's greatest joys were his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great - grandchildren. He enjoyed short vacations, and was a fan of country music. He also had a great talent for baking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Bradley; four sisters, Beverly Reining, Delores Walsh, Ardyce Peterson and Darlene Phillips; and two brothers, Lloyd Walsh and Francis Walsh.

Noel is survived by his children, Brian (Phyllis) Walsh of Alta, Brenda (Mike) Reinert of Alta, Kevin (Kim) Walsh of Alta, and Michaelene Pritchard of Aurelia; his grandchildren, Kari (Aaron) Evanson of Fenton, MO, Kori (Greta) Walsh of Austin, TX, Jaydon (Sarah) Reinert of West Des Moines, Chris (Angie) Reinert of Alta, Aaron Walsh of College Station, TX, Damion Walsh of Jesup, Stephanie (Josh) Crawford of Independence, MO, Justin (Christina) Walsh of Ames, Gabriel Walsh of Alta, Michael, Alex and Andrew Pritchard of Aurelia,; fourteen great- grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Elaine) Walsh of Phoenix, AZ and Phil (Jennie) Walsh of Alta; one sister, Sheila Dykes of Elk Grove, CA; one brother-in-law, Bill Barr of Storm Lake, and one sister-in-law, Marge Brickson of Lake Havasue, AZ; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
