The Cherokee Sanford Museum is now accepting entries for the 2011 "Beauty of Northwest Iowa" photo contest. This marks the fourth year of the popular contest.
There is no age limit and both professional and amateur entries will be accepted. Entries must be original photos, taken by the entrant. The photos must be 8 x 10 to 8 x 12 inches in size and all photos are to be loose, no mats or frames allowed. Also no entries will be allowed that have been previously displayed at the Sanford Museum.
All photos must be taken in Northwest Iowa and all entries must be suitable for display, no bends, folds, wrinkles, curls or smears.
All photos must be labeled on the back with title, name, phone number and address. Entries can be rejected for any reason.
Award for first place is $100, second place is $50 and third place is $25.
All prospective contestants were to complete the pre-register form by today but organizers have extended that deadline until 4:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 17. (you can pick up the form at the Museum). All entries must be delivered to the Sanford Museum during the week of Dec. 20 through Dec. 30.
All photos will be on display at the Sanford Museum from January 7 to February 10.
On January 22 at 7:30 p.m., there will be a gallery talk from the judges and there will be an artists' reception and awards will be given out at this time. All photos must be picked up at the Museum during the week of February 14.
The Museum will be taking one of two photos that the artist feels demonstrates the beauty of Northwest Iowa.
