HARTLEY - In a game featuring rivals from the old Sioux Valley Conference, the Alta-Aurelia Warriors beat the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Hawks, 58-50, in girls' basketball action here on Saturday.

Jordan Henningsen led the Warriors' scoring with 24 points, with Emily Grieme adding 10 points, Meghan Glawe seven, and Meagan Phipps, Lesa Turnquist and Courtney VanHaaften five points apiece. Glawe snared eight rebounds and VanHaaften seven to lead the Warriors on the boards. Henningsen dished out six assists and Haley Payne had four.

"This was a good win right before break," said Warriors coach Jeannie Henningsen.

" We played with good intensity on both ends of the court, we executed down the stretch again, and made our free throws when we needed to."

The Warrior gals play Pocahontas Area on the road on January 6.
