High school seniors and their parents will be able to get information on the college financial aid process during a free presentation offered by Washington High School and the Iowa College Access Network® (ICAN).
The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11 in the WHS Library. During the presentation, students and parents will receive answers to questions on topics like completing and filing financial aid forms, important deadlines, types of available financial assistance, scholarships, and resources.
"This presentation is very helpful for seniors and parents who are unsure exactly what is involved in the financial aid process," says Juan Garcia, manager of ICAN. "As students get closer to graduation, they and their families often find the entire process confusing and discouraging. Our aim is to make the process more clear and smooth their way."
Families will learn how to complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a free form available from the U.S. Department of Education via www.fafsa.gov
For more information about the presentation, students and parents should contact Deb Hankens or Jolleen Hunecke at Washington High School by calling 712-225-6755 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
