Elder becomes grandfather and receives kidney transplant
JR (James) Elder of Casper, Wyoming received a wonderful phone call early on Tuesday morning, December 21. The University of Colorado Hospital was on the line, and told JR, who had had been on dialysis for four years, that they might have a match for a kidney transplant. The following morning, JR was in surgery, receiving the transplant, and the kidney began working immediately.
JR was dismissed from the hospital on Sunday the 26th, and will be in the Denver area for outpatient followup for 1-2 weeks. He will then be released to return to his home in Wyoming. His sister, MaryAnne and her husband Marvin Block will be joining him in Denver this week.
This has been a wonderful Christmas season for JR. He became a grandpa for the first time when his daughter Amanda Faye and her husband Steve Manchester of Evanston, Wyoming became parents to Henry Burl Manchester. JR's younger daughter, Molly, plans to return to Europe after the first of the year to pursue a career in international business.
Cards for JR can be sent to him at his home address, 615 S. Durbin St., Casper, WY 82601.
Elder and his siblings, all past graduates of Aurelia High School, are the children of the late Gene and Faye Elder.
