Kris Glienke, Cherokee County Auditor and Clerk to the Board of Supervisors, called the meeting to order and began the reorganization process.
The first order of business was the election of Board Chairman and once again Jeff Simonsen was named Chairman. Dean Schmidt was named Vice-Chairman and then the meeting was turned back to the Chairman and Kris Glienke was appointed permanent clerk to the Board.
The Board then set the date and times that the Board would be meeting for 2011. Meeting times will remain on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. The Board then named the two official County newspapers both the Chronicle Times and Marcus News were appointed.
The Board then set mileage rate for employees at 42 cents per mile with 51 cents per mile for the federal rate.
The Board then assigned its committee assignments:

The Board then approved County board appointments:
Dave Skou to Cherokee County Conservation Board, a five year term; Lance Shafer and Lee Foresman to Board of Adjustments, a five year term; Joe Draper and Dutch Robbins to Veteran Affairs Commission, a three year term. The Board than appointed Cherokee County Township officials: Afton Township - James Mohn, Clerk, Scott Koch, Trustee and Donald Mummert, Trustee; Cedar Township officials -- Dianne Gordon, Clerk, Jeff Lundquist, Trustee and Tom Kelley, Trustee; Cherokee Township -- Amy Stief, Clerk and Marlin Stief, Trustee; Diamond Township -- Ernie Glienke, Trustee and Mike Radke, Trustee; Liberty Township -- Dennis Alquist, Clerk and Paul Puhrmann, Trustee; Pilot Township -- Linda Flewelling, Clerk; Silver Township -- Dave Nielsen, Trustee; Spring Township -- Lowell Bennink, Trustee and Ray Mullins, Trustee; Willow Township -- Brad Husman, Trustee and Jerry Ebert, Trustee (Township Clerk still needs to be appointed).
The Board then approved the 2010 Eminent Domain Board that includes 28 members who need to be certified by the Third Judicial Court out of Sioux City and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
In other business, the Board heard from Dick Sievers of Mid Sioux Opportunities who presented the Board with a $7,500 funding request for fiscal year 2011/2012.
The Board took no action at this time for Sievers' request.
The Board also approved two final employee payouts, one for Cliff Spangler of the Secondary Roads Department in the amount of $1,594, and Lucas Straw of the Cherokee County Conservation Department in the amount of $1,798.
The Board then began working on the 2011/2012 Budget Review
