SAC CITY - East Sac County held a one point lead over Alta-Aurelia at half-time, and that was still the margin at the end of the Indians' 54-53 win over the Warriors in boys' basketball action Monday.
Alta-Aurelia coach Dean Lietz said the game was as close as the score indicates, with neither team able to get a substantial lead. The Warriors took the lead for a short time in the second half, but couldn't hold it. They had chances to grab the lead back at the end, said Lietz, but were unable to convert their opportunities.
Alta-Aurelia received a huge contribution from their bench, as Austin Glawe, with 24 points, and Austin Delp, with 13, led the team in scoring. Jalen Henningsen scored five points and also dished out six assists for the Warriors, while Glawe led the team in rebounds with seven, and Delp and Ryan Friedrich each had four boards.
The Warriors (4-2) play Pocahontas Area at Pomeroy tonight (Thursday), then take on Laurens-Marathon in a Northwest Conference game at Laurens on Friday.
