Dreckman's 17 points pace Eagles

MARCUS - The impressive Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn girls ran their shiny basketball record to 9-1 with a 51-34 victory over Remsen St. Mary's here Tuesday night.

Erica Dreckman paced the Eagles to the win with 17 points, while Reagan McDaniel added 12, and Jalyn Doeden 10.

The tough MMC defense kept any Hawk players from reaching double figures in scoring, with Paige Harpenau and Brielle Biezuns leading St. Mary's with seven points apiece.

Doeden led the winners in rebounding with nine, and Stephanie Specht grabbed seven, and Dreckman four. Dreckman also led her team in assists with four and Bailee Nelson recorded three. McDaniel and Specht paced MMC in steals with three each.

MMC sank 23-58 field goals for 40 percent, and cashed in 6-9 free throws. RSM was 14-68 from the field for a cold 21 percent, and netted 8-16 free throws.

Biezuns led the Hawks on the boards with nine rebounds, Emma Krier pocketed seven, and Anyssa Trejo six. Krier had three steals to lead that category.

The Eagles led 20-14 at halftime before going on an 18-6 scoring run in the third quarter to blow open the game.
