The Cherokee Sanford Museum began displaying entries in the 2011 "Beauty of Northwest Iowa" photo contest last week.

A estimated 67 pictures from Northwest Iowa will be hanging in the West Gallery of the Museum until the middle of February.

The contest is open to amateur entries and no age limit was set. Entries had to be original photos, taken by the entrant. The photos had to be 8 x 10 inches in size and all photos are loose, no mats or frames were allowed.

All photos must be taken in Northwest Iowa and all entries have to be suitable for display, no bends, folds, wrinkles, curls or smears.

Also, the photos are to be labeled on the back with title, name, phone number and address. Entries can be rejected for any reason.

Award for first place is $100, second place is $50 and third place is $25.

All perspective contestants completed the pre-registration form prior to December 15. All entries were delivered to the Sanford Museum during the time period of Dec. 20 through Dec. 30.

All photos will be on display at the Sanford Museum until February 14.

On January 22 at 7:30 p.m. there will be a gallery talk from the judges and there will be an artists' reception and awards will be given out at this time. All photos must be picked up at the Museum during the week of Feb. 14 through Feb. 23.
