DES MOINES -- The 84th General Assembly convened Monday and among the important items on the Legislature's agenda was the swearing in of new legislators.

Senator Bill Anderson (R-Pierson), who represents District 27, which includes Cherokee, northern Woodbury and eastern Plymouth Counties, took the oath of office with his family looking on.

"This will be an exciting legislative session and I'm looking forward to representing District 27 in Des Moines," said Anderson who sits on the Senate Labor and Business Committee.

"I hope to pass meaningful legislation that helps bring sustainable jobs to Iowa as well as stopping the growth of government," said Anderson.
