The theme of the show is Recycling.
Nelson stated that she thought it would be fun to have a craft show that features recycled goods.
Her daughter Annalie Nelson prompted the idea; last year she had an idea of making handbags out of used t-shirts that was submitted to Pepsi's "Refresh Everything" project.
Annalie took old t-shirts that no one wants and "recycled" them into re-usable bags. She then designed several bags, with her original artwork on them.
Annalie then suggested donating all the proceeds from the bag sales to the local area animal shelters to help homeless pets. Her mom, Nancy, loved the idea so much, she submitted it to the grant program, and they were approved for a $5000 grant.
Continuing Annalie's work, the craft show will again be donating all profits from the show to local animal shelter.
To date, Annalie has sold 850 bags at $1 a bag.
Those wishing to attend the craft show in April will have to pay a $1 charge for admission, and they will then receive a 't-shirt bag' with which to shop.
Nelson stated that any type of crafts are welcome at the show, they don't have to be just recycled items. Any artisans or businesses that want to showcase their business, or local organizations who would like to get their word out and would like to rent a 8' x 8'x booth are encouraged to call Nelson at 225-2650 or go to www.rethreadearth.com to download a registration form. The charge for a Vendor booth is $25.
Set-up will begin on Friday evening prior to the show.
The show will run from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 23. Registration deadline will be April 23.
Nelson said that "it is always fun to make old things into new things," and she also emphasizes that the profits would go to a good cause.
