MARCUS - Junior sharpshooter Erica Dreckman fired in a school record 38 points on 14-20 shooting for a blistering 70 percent to lead the Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn girls to a convincing 72-55 War Eagle Conference win over a solid South O'Brien team here Friday night.
Dreckman cashed in 10-16 free throws, pocketed six rebounds, and snared three steals in a superlative overall effort against SOS.
Jalyn Doeden and Kelsey Sears each tallied eight points for the Eagles, who finished 30-69 from the field for 43 percent in the game, along with a 14-26 effort from the free throw line.
Stephanie Specht dominated the boards for MMC with 13 rebounds, and Doeden cnagged seven. Specht also led her tam in steals with five, and in assists with three.
No statistics were made available for South O'Brien, and Wolverine team statistics to be placed on the Iowa prep website QuikStats are in arrears for more than two weeks.
MMC, rated 15th in Class 1A with a 12-2 record, scored 29 points in a torrid third quarter fueled by Dreckman to break the game open.
The MMC teams play at WEC foe Akron-Westfield Friday night, and host Ruthven-Ayrshire Saturday night in a non-conference boy-girl tussle.
