CORRECTIONVILLE - The River Valley girls led by 10 points after the first quarter and never looked back as they cruised to a 65-51 Western Valley Conference win over Woodbury Central here Tuesday.

The Wolverines led by as many as 18 points at one time, then made just enough free throws down the stretch to hold on for the 14 point win.

Lexie Chester led the Wolverines with 19 points, including four three pointers, while Mackenzie Fitch added 12 points, Kari Ludvigson 11, Brittany Shropshire nine, and Jacie Jepsen eight in a very balanced attack. Ludvigson and Fitch led the team in rebounding with eight boards apiece, while Ludvigson added nine steals and five assists.

RV Coach Matt Jenness felt that his team shot the ball very well on Tuesday, and they also played aggressive defense and "got WC to do some things they didn't want to do."

Concluded Coach Jenness, "We are starting to play better basketball at the right time of year."

The win boosted the Wolverines' season mark to 9-7, and they are 3-3 in conference play. They will travel to Lawton-Bronson to take on the Eagles in their last conference game Friday before heading into the conference tournament next week.
