MOVILLE - The eighth-seeded River Valley boys fought gallantly against #1 seed Woodbury Central in Tuesday's first-round Western Valley Conference Tournament, but the Wolverines could not come away with the victory, losing a well-played, high-scoring game by score of 78-71.

Brody Riedemann led the way for RV with 22 points, while Mark Petersen scored 19 points, Zak Gander added 15 points and nine boards, and Brennan Riedemann tallied 10 points and had seven steals.

RV coach Dean Norris said, "Although our record (1- 14 ) doesn't indicate it, these kids are playing much better and, with the majority being underclassmen, the future looks promising."

James Wright and Grady Gallagher led the potent Wildcats in scoring, with Wright totaling a game-high 27 points, and Gallagher close behind with 25 for the 13-3 Woodbury Central squad.
