NEWELL - The Alta-Aurelia Warrior girls took on Newell-Fonda in Northwest Conference basketball action here on Tuesday. After a close first quarter, Alta-Aurelia was never in the game, as the Mustangs out-scored the Warriors, 20-8, in the second quarter to take a 16-point lead at the half, on their way to a 58-40 win.
Jordan Henningsen paced the Warriors, scoring half of her team's 40 points. Henningsen shot only 25% from the field for the game, but was 11-13 from the charity stripe. No one else scored more than six points for the Warriors, whose season mark now stands at 8-6.
Meghan Glawe led the Warriors on the boards, grabbing nine rebounds.
Alta-Aurelia hosts Sioux Central tonight, in a game that was re-scheduled from January 11. The Warriors host Manson-Northwest Webster on Friday.
