Taco John's recently presented a check for $2,344 to Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA).

Taco John's restaurants in seven Iowa cities participated in this fundraiser from Dec. 1--31. Donations were calculated during this time period with a portion for each Nachos NavidadŽ sold benefiting Special Olympics.

President of the Taco John's Sioux City Co-op Craig Heath said, "Taco John's is pleased to share this gift to benefit the nearly 800 athletes who participate in Special Olympics and live in northwest Iowa. We appreciate the support of all our customers during this campaign."

This financial gift will help support Special Olympics Iowa athletes in northwest Iowa as they train and compete in local, regional and state events. Annually, there are close to 80 regional events across the state and seven statewide competitions in various locations in Iowa.

The donations were made at the following restaurants: Cherokee, LeMars, Sheldon, Sioux City, Spencer, Spirit Lake and Storm Lake.

Special Olympics Iowa serves 11,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and Unified Sports partners in all 99 counties of Iowa. SOIA offers 22 Olympic-type sports and specialized programs on an annual basis. Athletes range in age from two to 80+.
