ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia girls led at each stop in a tight game against conference rival Sioux Central here on Thursday. AA led by two points at the end of both the first and second quarters and by four heading into the fourth quarter before posting the final 50-48 victory.

Jordan Henningsen paced the Warriors with 24 points, and she also grabbed five rebounds and dished out six assists. Henningsen's back court mate Haley Payne was the only other Warrior to score in double figures, as she notched a season-high 13 points. Payne also had four assists and three steals, and Emily Grieme scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds for the Warriors.

A-A Coach Jeannie Henningsen said, "Our whole team played great tonight. We played with intensity and heart. Sioux Central is a great team, and we knew that we needed to 'lay it all out on the court'. Jordan paced our team with her offense and passing and got us some momentum, Haley was all over the court and played the game of her career, Audrey (Winterhof) hit a key free throw down the stretch, and Emily Grieme and Courtney Van Haaften stayed strong down low on the boards."

The Warriors took a 9-6 record into a Friday night home match-up with rated Manson-Northwest Webster, and host Storm Lake St. Mary's Tuesday night in Alta.
