Doreen Emeline Hadden was born April 10, 1926 to Edward Arthur Hadden and Lillian (Petschow) Hadden in Sioux City. She was baptized April 10, 1927 in the First United Methodist Church in Sioux City. She attended school in Sioux City, Rapid City, South Dakota, and Cushing, from where she graduated in 1944. In 1936, Doreen moved to Cushing with her parents, who had purchased a café there. Mrs. Hadden and Doreen operated the Hadden café until 1947.
Doreen met Loren Friedrichsen while in high school, and they dated during her high school days. They were married on October 1, 1944. To this union, three children were born - Loreen, Louise and Lynn. Doreen was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, and was a past worthy matron of the Alta Chapter of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the neighborhood JFF Club.
Doreen enjoyed her houseplants, doing crossword puzzles, and handiwork of various types. She raised and showed her AKC Shetland Sheepdogs for nearly 30 years, calling her kennel "Vista Shelties." She loved all of her dogs and was an animal lover.
Surviving Doreen is her mother, Lillian Hadden, age 106 of Sioux City; her oldest daughter and son-in-law, Loreen and Michael Moneypenny of Michie, TN; four grandchildren, Dawn Gehrts of Aurelia, IA, Charlotte Tibbetts of Moorseville, NC, Clinton Watts of Readlyn, IA, and John Friedrichsen of Cherokee; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Gehrts, Adam Gehrts, Melanie Gehrts and Amber Gehrts of Aurelia, Dale Tibbetts and Travis Tibbetts of North Carolina, and Mitchell Friedrichsen of Cherokee; a son-in-law Larry and Marcia Dahleen of Minneapolis, Minn.; her half sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Bob Hoch of Storm Lake; a half- brother and sister-in-law, David and Jean Hadden of Storm Lake; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1967; her daughter, Louise, on June 29, 2001; a son, Lynn, on November 13, 2005; her husband, Loren, on October 16, 2008; and a great-granddaughter, Tatum Jean Libbetts, on December 2, 1989.
She will be deeply missed by all who loved to see her pretty smile and hear her special "giggles".
