REMSEN - Erica Dreckman tallied 31 points to lead the Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn girls to a convincing 74-60 War Eagle Conference basketball victory over Remsen-Union here Friday night.
Reagan McDaniel added 12 points, Jalyn Doeden 10, and Stephanie Specht nine to help lead the visiting Eagles to the win.
Brittany Weilel led the host Rockets with 21 points, followed by Rachel West 14, and Hailey Loutsch and Allison Schreiner nine apiece.
MMC sank 28-70 field goals for 40 percent, and cashed in 16-23 free throws. R-U made 22-65 shots for 34 percent, and netted 11-20 free throws.
Kelsey Sears led MMC on the boards with eight rebounds, and Doeden grabbed six. Schreiner had 15 rebounds to lead the Rockets to a 54-34 advantage on the boards.
The Eagles rushed out to a 26-10 lead in the first quarter thanks to Dreckman's scoring, and held a 43-27 halftime bulge, before taking a 57-40 lead into the final eight minutes.
Dreckman also had three assists and McDaniel totaled three steals to lead those categories for the winners.
The MMC teams play at Le Mars Gehlen Friday night.
