Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate.
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. A public gathering will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight, with the family present during that time. The Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.greenwoodfuneral.com.
Lucille was born Dec. 23, 1920, to Mr. and Mrs. William Hantsbarger in Cherokee. She graduated from Cherokee High School in 1939, and later graduated from Samuelson Beauty School. She worked many years as a beautician, and always cared how her hair looked even when she was in the nursing home.
Lucille married Ray Borrink on Feb. 28, 1942. They were married 60 years before Ray passed away. Lucille was a longtime member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing golf and belonged to bridge club and a women's circle at church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray on June 15, 2002 and her son Dennis on April 20, 1985.
She is survived by her daughter, Barb Cunningham and her husband, Doug of Urbandale. Lucille had five grandchildren: Lisa Bergman and husband Dan of Gainesville, Fla.; Chad Cunningham and wife Kim of Woodstock, Ga.; Lance Borrink and wife Michelle of Sun City West, Ariz.; Rosemary Prin and husband Andrew of Champlin, Minn.; Alissa Borrink of Minneapolis, Minn.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Careage Hills Nursing Home, where Lucille experienced exceptional love and care during the last year of her life.
