ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia boys played well enough defensively to win their Northwest Conference basketball game against Laurens-Marathon here on Friday night, but the Warriors missed 55 shots from the field on the night and, despite a furious comeback, they could not pull out a victory, losing to the Chargers, 57-55.

Ryan Friedrich and Jalen Henningsen each scored 13 points to lead the Warriors on offense, while Jaden Holton scored nine. Friedrich also led the team on the boards with 12 rebounds and Neil Marshall had seven.

Laurens-Marathon was led by Austin Stumbo with 17 points, while Akex Runneberg and Ryan Hudson also reached double figures with 10 points each, and Bryce Maschino Maschino and Case Bieri came close, each scoring eight points.

Alta-Aurelia coach Dean Lietz hopes that his team's late comeback gives them some momentum to carry into their next game, against Woodbury Central on Tuesday. The Warriors will close their regular season at Correctionville on Friday against River Valley.

Coach Lietz said, "We need to play with a sense of urgency for a full 32 minutes. When we do that, we'll be a tough team to face in the post-season."

The loss evened the Warriors' season mark at 8-8.
