Thursday, February 10, 2011

ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia boys trailed at all the stops as they dropped a tough non-conference outing to Woodbury Central here on Tuesday, 67-43.

Ryan Friedrich led three Warriors who scored in double figures with 15 points, joined by Jaden Holton with 14 and A.J. Lange with 10.

Friedrich also led the Warriors in rebounds with nine, but none of his teammates could grab more than three boards. Christian Weiland had an excellent defensive game as he pilfered five Wildcat passes, and Holton led the Warriors in assists with four.

James Wright led Woodbury Central with 22 points, and he received ample help from Grady Gallagher, who scored 14 points, and Brady Crichton, who notched a dozen.

Alta-Aurelia coach Dean Lietz said, "Woodbury Central is a tough team with an inside and outside game offensively. We competed hard and came back, but couldn't get the lead, and from there it was an uphill struggle. I really believe our team is tested and will make a good showing in the postseason. We just need to put a full 32 minutes together, because we still haven't played our best game yet."

Alta-Aurelia (8-9) will conclude its regular season at Alta on Friday aginst non-conference foe River Valley.
