MARCUS - Pizza Ranch of Marcus has become an integral part of the community, beginning 25 years ago under the ownership of Marlin and Karen Gries, who owned the business for a few years until they sold it to Ted Hengelbeld and Marv Rietema, both of Sioux Center. For the past 12 1/2 years, the latter pair have been in a partnership with Ron and Melinda Rosewall. With that merger of ownership, Pizza Ranch has played a vital role in Marcus.

The business has been redecorated once inside and out since that merger, and it will undergo a major renovation inside this summer with a new color scheme and furnishings.

Rosewall noted the menu has had several changes in the time they have been associated with it. Usually every four months, a new pizza and salad has been introduced, as well as the popular wraps which arrived on the menu two years ago.

"What makes people have confidence in coming in and eating with us is that Pizza Ranch has brand protection which means people can have major confidence that whenever you see the Pizza Ranch logo, you know what the food is going to taste like. Consistency of quality and taste is all important and types of food on the menu remain the same throughout the franchise. People traveling can have confidence in that knowledge," explained Rosewall.

Rosewall commented sometimes the lunch crowd has dwindled over a few years as folks work farther away from their residence, but the evenings have picked up. When construction is going on in the area, it certainly boosts the lunch crowd.

Rosewall noted, "We certainly have had loyal customers, consistent patrons. We've made many good friendships and acquaintances through the Pizza Ranch. The corporation has a motto which we strive to maintain, "Be involved with community and a supporter of those working in the community. We welcome customers as a guest to our home. We want them to feel welcome and content to be here."

To celebrate the marking of 25 years in Marcus, the Pizza Ranch will be offering a special during the last week of February. They will be giving away two bikes and one men's and one women's gift basket The drawing will occur on the 26th. On Feb. 25th, Pizza Ranch will be hosting an after-hour Marcus Chamber Coffee with wine, cheese and other hors d'oeuvres. It is their way of saying 'thanks' to the area for their support.
