Cherokee County Recognition Banquet March 12

The 16th Annual Cherokee County Recognition Banquet will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Western Iowa Tech Community College Conference Center in Cherokee. The night will be filled with entertainment, starting at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour that will feature the music of Dr. David Klee. The social hour is a time to mingle with others from throughout the county and reconnect with friends or to get to know new members of our communities.

A buffet follows the social hour, starting at 6:30 p.m. The buffet will feature Baked Ham, Oven Roasted Turkey Breast, Hash Brown Casserole, Vegetable Medley, Lettuce Salad, a variety of breads and rolls, coffee, tea, bottled water (courtesy of Blaine's Culligan), and a variety of tasty cheesecakes.

As the dinner is finishing, the presentation of awards will begin. Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation will begin the award process by recognizing area businesses that have remodeled, expanded, have new management or started a new business in the last year.

The actual Awards Ceremony will begin after these certificates have been distributed. This year, presentations will be made by the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation, Cherokee Industrial Corporation, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, Business and Professional Women, Aurelia Economic Development, Marcus Chamber of Commerce, Cherokee County Farm Bureau, and the cities of Cleghorn, Cherokee, Quimby and Washta. The highlight of the ceremony is the naming of the Cherokee Citizen of the Year.

Following the Awards Ceremony, the audience will be treated to delightful speaker Kelly Boon. Kelly is a "CHAOS (Creative Humor Art & Other Stuff).Coach," and she is recognized internationally as a leader in employing art and humor in everyday life. Kelly empowers individuals to become active team players in an environment that promotes trust and engages brain-power through laughter and creativity.

By the time she is done, audience members will feel rejuvenated and ready to make things different in their life and the lives of others. Don't miss this life - changing opportunity.
