Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Jeff Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
Arlene was born Oct. 12, 1919 in Cherokee, to Abe and Ethel (Eubank) Glidewell. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1937. She was married to Marvin Mann on March 26, 1938 in Sioux City. She had lived in Aurelia since 1994, prior to this in Okoboji for 13 years and prior to this on a farm south Aurelia. She returned to school in the 1960's and received her nursing degree from Western Iowa Technical School of Nursing located in Cherokee. She operated Mann's Nursing Home for a number of years and also worked as nurse at Sunset Knoll in Aurelia. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, rural Aurelia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Jan. 24, 1997, a son Marvin Douglas Mann and a brother Boyd Glidewell.
She is survived by one son and one daughter: Denny Mann and his wife Diane of Aurelia; Janet Anderson and her husband Collin of Maple Grove, Minn.; four grandchildren; John and Jessica Mann; Matthew Jergenson and his wife Sarah; Cari Yu and her husband Chong; a sister Carol Brown of Storm.
