Ridge View sends 2 wrestlers to State

ATLANTIC - The Ridge View Raptors advanced two of their wrestlers to this week's State Wrestling tournament in Des Moines, when 145 pound senior Tyler Kenny (29-12) and 215 pound sophomore Michael Davidson (32-7) both finished as the runner-up in their weight classes at the Class 2A District Wrestling Tournament here Saturday.

Ridge View's Jason Kenny (25-19) finished fourth in his 112 pound weight class, and his coach Scott Phelps said the freshman "wrestled real well and looked good in a tough weight class."

Tyler Kenny meets junior Blake Meling (40-2) of East Marshall/GMG in his opening match at State, and Davidson meets undefeated junior Kane Seeley (43-0) of Perry.

The Raptors finished 9th of 11 teams who wrestled here. Host Atlantic was the team champion, scoring 147 points. Creston/Orient-Macksburg finished second with 126.5 points, followed by Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove, Harlan, and South Central Calhoun.
