RV boys out with tourney loss

Monday, February 21, 2011

AKRON - The River Valley boys basketball season came to a close here on Thursday when they dropped a Class 1A District tournament game to Akron-Westfield, 67-43.

Mark Petersen led the Wolverines in scoring with 18 points, while Zak Gander added 14. Brennan Riedmann had five steals to lead the defense. The loss closed out the careers of three seniors - Luke Wilen, Todd Bauer, and Mark Petersen.

RV coach Dean Norris said that "These three young men were very good leaders, and displayed a positive attitude throughout their careers. I am sure they will be sucessful as they graduate, and I am thankful for the opportunity to coach them."

River Valley finishes the season with a disappointing 1-19 mark.
