Morningside harriers run at Lincoln

LINCOLN , Nebr. - The Morningside College women placed 7th in the Women's team standings at Saturday's GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championahips here, while the Mustang men placed 6th in the Men's team standings.

Several athletes from the Chronicle Times coverage area ran for the Morningside teams. Breanna Mathes, a Mustang sophomore who competed for Galva-Holstein as a prep, finished second in the women's 1000 meters with a time of 2:58.41. Former Cherokee Washington prep Kara Nelson, now a senior at Morningside, finished 4th in the women's Mile Run, in a time of 5:22.91. Teammate Jessica Hudelson won that event in a time of 5:10.79, and Breanna Mathes finished sixth with her time of 5:23.41. Hudelson was also the runner-up in the women's 800 meters, finishing in a time of 2:16.17.

John Harris, a Morningside sophomore who competed for Galva-Holstein in high school, finished sixth in the Men's 800 meter run with his time of 1:57.66.
