Northey Paullina and Cherokee visits rescheduled for March 1

Friday, February 25, 2011

DES MOINES -- Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey recently announced that he will be visiting Cherokee and O'Brien Counties on Tuesday, March 1 as part of his efforts to visit each of Iowa's 99 counties again in 2011.

Northey had to cancel visits scheduled for earlier this month to these counties due to inclement weather.

Northey will tour American Natural Soy in Cherokee and then be speaking at a crop fair hosted by the Iowa Corn Growers Association in Paullina. The Paulina event is open to the public and the press wishing to join the tour in Cherokee should contact American Natural Soy.

"I am looking forward to these meetings and hope the weather will cooperate this time," Northey said.

The details of the visits follow here:

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Cherokee County -- 10 a.m., Tour American Natural Soy, 1510 S. 2nd St., Cherokee

O'Brien County -- noon, Speak to Iowa Corn Growers Crop Fair, American Legion Hall, 5624 460th St., Paullina

Northey, a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, is serving his second term as Secretary of Agriculture. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are promoting the use of science and new technologies to better care for our air, soil and water, and reaching out to tell the story of Iowa agriculture.
