Several Marcus residents recently helped unload 1300 lbs. of food from the Siouxland Food Bank for the Community Ministry Food Pantry.

Each month, the food pantry orders anywhere from 1000 lbs. to 1600 lbs. of food to keep the food pantry up and running. This food is purchased with financial donations which have been made to the organization.

No one person could put all of this food away by themselves, but with a group of 15-20 wonderful volunteers it can take less than 30 minutes to unload the truck, open up boxes, breakdown the product, and stock the shelves, and clean up.

"It is really a spectacular event to be a part of," said volunteer Rachel Homes.

If you would like to help out next month when the truck comes in give Holmes a call at 376-4318(work) and your name will be added to the list.

"The food pantry has been so blessed by our community we would like to thank everyone involved with both the financial donations, food donations, and the great volunteers. The food pantry has the following items we are in need of," added Homes.

Items needed are: Peanut butter, jelly, jello, pudding, ramen noodles, boxed dinners, shampoo & conditioner, canned soups, mayo, ketchup, spaghetti sauce, cereal.

Financial Donations can be sent to Community Ministry PO Box 267 Marcus, Ia 50135
