CORRECTIONVILLE - After three consecutive winning seasons, the River Valley boys' basketball team struggled a bit this year with a 1-19 record, but Coach Dean Norris says that does not take away from the effort and positive attitude this year's team exhibited.

"Despite the poor record, our kids played hard each and every night, and continued to practice this way as well and continue to work for improvement," said Coach Norris.

River Valley graduates three seniors - Luke Wilen, Todd Bauer, and Mark Petersen, and Coach Norris says they will be missed for their leadership and continued support of the basketball program. Peterson was RV's leading scorer this year, while Bauer and Wilen were valuable reserves.

Junior center Zak Gander, who averaged a double/double for the season, was named to the second team All Western Valley Conference, and Peterson and junior guard Brody Riedemann, who tied a school record with six 3-point baskets in a game against Remsen-Union, both received honorable mention.

With four starters returning next year, Coach Norris said he looks for the Wolverines to turn things around rather quickly and he is looking forward to the future.
